Annotation:

There is a prolonged social as well as medical demand on intensive research, because no effective and trustworthy clinical treatment for patients with the spinal cord injury (SCI). Since most of the physiological and pathological effects of the Angiotensin II are mediated through the AT1 receptor stimulation, the AT2 receptor study was until recently at the periphery of scientific interest. At present, the AT2 receptor represents a potentially important area of investigation with possible therapeutic application since it was shown its wide neuroprotective potential. Our main objective is to contribute to the elucidation of the neuroprotective mechanisms in which the AT2 receptor plays an important role.
